On Saturday 23 October our own SAC ministers will be undertaking a Triathlon Relay Race on Lantau Island. The race will comprise of an open water swim (Alex McCoy), a bike ride (Dan Evers) and a run (Darren Pollock), alongside a number of other relay teams from various triathlon clubs, sports clubs and corporations! Our ministers will champion the 2020 Vision. Your support through a minimum of a $50 sponsorship will ensure they do their part (tax deductible certificates will be issued on request for donations of $100 or above). Sponsorship forms are available at the 2020 Vision table & the website!
To make this more interesting, we will also be entering a couple other SAC relay teams to make sure that the SAC Ministers are all racing hard! Any SAC member who can swim, bike or run that wishes to sign up for the relay team, please contact James Mak (

THE 2020 VISION PRAYER Father God, we thank you for making us in your image and for sending Jesus to be the Saviour of the world. We rejoice in your love for all people and we pray that we would share your delight in their salvation. We pray that you will bless our 2020 Vision. We ask for your provision for the funds we need to make this vision a reality. Guide those in our church who are leading our efforts in the development, fundraising, prayer, and resource allocation. Bind us together with love and faith, so we may declare the joy of sins forgiven and eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. REVISED DEVELOPMENT PLAN After feedback from church members, and discussions with the Commissioner for Heritage, Jack Chan, St Andrew’s Council has resolved to submit a revised scheme for the development, focusing on the front of the building. As church members will recall, SAC submitted a development plan last year, as a means to start a discussion with Government on the heritage aspects of any future development. We accepted then that the actual plan submitted would be open to further change at a later stage. Significant discussion has focused on the one and only, aspect of the design of the development relating to the stone retaining wall on Nathan Road. St Andrew’s has taken the view that the existing wall has no specific heritage significance, and a number of heritage authorities in Hong Kong have agreed. However at the same time we agree that it would be good, if we can, to retain some elements of the existing front of the site in any new design. This is consistent with the policy that SAC has adopted with the additions to the church and its refurbishment, the refurbishment of the old amah’s quarters, the old vicarage and gardens, as well as the rear slope. This latest architectural design incorporates a 15 metre stretch of existing stone boundary wall, reduced glass areas, and new stone cladding to be matched to the existing Lych Gate stone archway, while the original balustrade shall be replaced along the entire length of the courtyard roof garden. In addition the glass rain canopy over the entrances has been reduced. Larger images are on display next to the model under the Christian Centre. Exterior Perspective (Proposed)
