CHRISTMAS VOLUNTEERS

Our Christmas services are wonderful opportunities for people to come and hear the good news of Jesus! We need many volunteers to help make our visitors feel welcome.

We encourage all who come to St Andrew’s not to just be spectators, but fully engaged partners in building God’s kingdom. There are many great ways you can volunteer! Prayerfully consider how you could serve in the following areas.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

God has given us gifts to serve His people, build the church and bless our city. There are many different volunteering opportunities both here at St Andrew’s and with our mission partners across Hong Kong.

Welcomer

First impressions matter. It’s what makes people feel comfortable and informed in a new place. If you’re friendly, personable, and want to meet new people, sign up and get involved.

Teacher

Our teachers make the Bible come alive as they lead a group of children and teach God’s word in different ways.

Assistant

Our assistants assist the teacher and guide the children in various activities.

Welcomer

Our welcomers provide a big warm welcoming smile and help with registration and new comers.

Leader

Our Youth leaders have a wonderful opportunity to invest in the lives of our young people and see them grow as people and as children of God.

Prison ministry

We partner with Kun Sun to serve Christians and unbelievers in prisons through music, games, Bible teaching, discussion and prayer. Our visitation teams are quite full but welcome male volunteers who can speak Spanish or Portuguese. Volunteers can also serve by writing letters to those in prison.

Serving the elderly

Partnering with the SKH Welfare Council, our church team visits disadvantaged elderly people in To Kwa Wan once a month. The team is committed to sharing God’s love with the elderly through conversations, friendship and practical care.

Serving the poor

From their centre near Kennedy Town, St Barnabas Society and Home serve the poor and homeless. Join our church team that goes once a month to sing, lead stretching exercises, serve lunch and share the gospel with elderly people.

Serving the vulnerable

Sons & Daughters helps those at risk of or survived sexual exploitation and trafficking rebuild their lives in Christ through outreach, drop-in centre, after-care, training and re-integration. Find out how you can serve in this life-changing work.

Serving the ethnic minority

Based in Yau Ma Tei, Inner City Ministries shares the love of Jesus with Nepalese people in Hong Kong. Join our church team that serves the Kids Club once a month with singing, Bible stories, games and crafts. There are also opportunities to teach Cantonese and provide homework help for school pupils.

Serving the disabled

Home of Loving Faithfulness in Sheung Shui is home to children and adults with special needs. Volunteers share love and friendship with them through story-telling, art and music, cooking and baking. Skills in gardening, maintenance, Speech or Occupational Therapy are also much appreciated.

Teaching Cantonese to Putonghua speakers

Partner with our Putonghua congregation to reach out to Putonghua speakers in Hong Kong. Join the team to teach Cantonese to Putonghua speakers and share the good news of Jesus with them.

Musician

It’s a joy and privilege to worship and give thanks to our God with songs of praise! Musical worship is essential to church life, as we seek to let the word of God dwell richly in our hearts. If you are competent in one or more musical skill sets and consider yourself a good team player, then please consider signing up for an audition to join this exciting ministry.

Photographer

They say a picture is worth 1000 words, which makes photography such a powerful communication tool. Our photographers capture moments at special Sunday services and other events. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a keen eye for composition and is reasonably comfortable with portraiture photography. Images will be used in a variety of outputs for St Andrew’s – online, digital and print.

Audio-visual operator

The audio-visual team plays a vital role on Sundays by making sure the different elements of services are displayed precisely as planned. If you’re focussed, good with computers and can pick-up real-time instructions, please consider serving in this area. Training will be offered for increased proficiency and confidence.

Prayer

Our prayer team is available to minister to people directly after all of our Sunday services.

Baking Team

This team provides sweet treats for church events.

Serving Team

This team serves tea, coffee and snacks after services.
