Volunteer

We encourage all who come to St Andrew’s not to just be spectators, but fully engaged partners in building God’s kingdom. There are many great ways you can volunteer! Prayerfully consider how you could serve in the following areas.

Welcome Ministry

First impressions matter. Our welcomers serve to make people feel at home at St Andrew’s. They meet, greet, and inform newcomers, and ensure the smooth running of our Sunday services. If you’re friendly, personable, and want to meet new people, sign up and get involved.

Children’s Ministry

The next generation is hungry for authentic and loving Christian role models to point them to Jesus. Each Sunday about 150 children come to our Creche and Kidzone programs. It is so rewarding building relationships with the next generation and seeing God impact their lives. You can be part of this blessing too!

Teacher

Our teachers make the Bible come alive as they lead a group of children and teach God’s word in different ways.

Assistant

Our assistants assist the teacher and guide the children in various activities.

Welcomer

Our welcomers provide a big warm welcoming smile and help with registration and new comers.

Youth Ministry

Some of the most important factors in the healthy growth of teenagers are a safe space to ask questions about life and faith, and invested adults who are concerned for their wellbeing. Youth ministry aims to provide that space and those relationships. This is a wonderful opportunity to invest in the lives of our young people and see them grow as people and as children of God!

Local Outreach

At St Andrews, we have many volunteering opportunities with local outreach programs that serve those who are in need. These are spread across a broad range of different ministries, days and commitment levels. Sign up today and put your faith into action!

Prison ministry

We partner with Kun Sun to serve Christians and unbelievers in prisons through music, games, Bible teaching, discussion and prayer. Both the Cantonese-speaking team for Stanley prison and English-speaking Lai Chi Kok team are recruiting male volunteers, especially those able to lead singing and simple worship.

Serving the disabled

Home of Loving Faithfulness in Sheung Shui is home to children and adults with special needs. Volunteers share love and friendship with them through story-telling, art and music, cooking and baking. Skills in gardening, maintenance, Speech or Occupational Therapy are also much appreciated.

Serving the elderly

Partnering with the SKH Welfare Council, the St Andrew’s team visits disadvantaged elderly people in the To Kwa Wan area once a month. The team is committed to caring for the elderly and sharing God’s love with them through conversations and practical care.

Serving the poor

From their centre in the Western District on Hong Kong Island, St Barnabas Society and Home serve the poor and homeless. Volunteers cook and distribute meals, provide homework help for children, serve the elderly and share the gospel with people in need.

Serving the ethnic minority

Based in the Yau Ma Tei area, Inner City Ministries reach out to the South Asian community and especially Nepalese people in Hong Kong. They are looking for volunteers for their monthly Saturday kids club, after-school homework club and summer holiday programmes for youth and children.

Teaching Cantonese to Putonghua Speakers

Partner with our Putonghua congregation to reach out to Putonghua speakers in Hong Kong. Join the team to help with our popular Cantonese lessons. We are looking for volunteers to teach Cantonese, help with childcare and other technical and admin tasks.

Creative & Production

We believe faith in Jesus should be expressed creatively. Through music and multimedia, our team help to enliven heavenly truths to encourage, uplift and strengthen the church. This is a unique and meaningful way to serve our creator God with the gifts and talents he’s given us.

Musician

It’s a joy and privilege to worship and give thanks to our God with songs of praise! Musical worship is essential to church life, as we seek to let the word of God dwell richly in our hearts. If you are competent in one or more musical skill sets and consider yourself a good team player, then please consider signing up for an audition to join this exciting ministry.

Photographer

They say a picture is worth 1000 words, which makes photography such a powerful communication tool. Our photographers capture moments at special Sunday services and other events. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a keen eye for composition and is reasonably comfortable with portraiture photography. Images will be used in a variety of outputs for St Andrew’s – online, digital and print.

Audio-visual operator

The audio-visual team plays a vital role on Sundays by making sure the different elements of services are displayed precisely as planned. If you’re focussed, good with computers and can pick-up real-time instructions, please consider serving in this area. Training will be offered for increased proficiency and confidence.

Prayer

Talking to God is a powerful way to be involved in his plans and purposes. If you have a caring personality and a heart for prayer, join a team to pray with others after church.

Baking

Food is a big part of any culture. It brings people together and builds community. If you enjoy serving by baking, sign up to join the baking group. This team provides sweet treats for our church events.
