Welfare Council

Oct 20, 2022

This week we welcome our friends from the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. The social arm of the Anglican Province in Hong Kong. All around the world, Christians seek to reflect God’s heart for the poor and oppressed by caring for those in society with additional needs. Jesus said, “it is better to give than to receive”, the Welfare Council practically demonstrate Jesus’ teaching through their work to support those in need.

Established in 1966, the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council has provided services to individuals of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds. With over 200 service units and member agencies across Hong Kong, Macau and Guangzhou, the Welfare Council has established a comprehensive and close-knit service network. As a branch of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, the Welfare Council walks in the footsteps of Jesus, working hand in hand with churches and schools to reach out to all communities to collectively build a society of love and deliver care and support.

collectively build a society of love

“Individual Caring, Overall Concern” is the service motto of the Welfare Council. Therefore, the services of the Welfare Council are comprehensive, including elderly, child care, children and youth, family and integrated services, as well as rehabilitation, counselling, medical, training and consultancy services.

Other projects include short-term food assistance and social enterprise. The Welfare Council endeavours to help enhance the self-reliance of the underprivileged and render holistic care to serve their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

The Welfare Council has worked alongside the underprivileged, providing services to hundreds of thousands of people in need every year. However, they also need your support so those in need can receive appropriate assistance and social services to have confidence and hope in their plight.

Please visit their table in the North Lobby after the 9.30 & 11.30am service on Sunday to learn more about their work and to see how you may contribute. If you would like to make a donation to the work of the Welfare Council, please click here
