Sarah’s Story

I was born in a non-Christian family, but studying in a Christian school gave me the opportunity to learn about God. Nevertheless, God was nothing more than a wish granter to me; I only prayed to Him for good grades before exams.

It wasn’t until Form 3 in secondary school when things changed. I had to choose my electives for my senior secondary years, and those with better grades were prioritized in the selection process. I put a lot of pressure on myself, which took a toll on my mental health. At one point, I couldn’t bear with it anymore. I cried to my mum, who had gone to church during her teenage years, suggested that I go to St Andrew’s.

Having faith in Jesus means I will never face difficulties alone.

Sometime after coming to church, I accepted the gospel message, but still had doubts about the reliability of the bible and whether Jesus was a real historical figure. Through listening to sermons and reading relevant books, I eventually came to believe that the bible can be trusted and that Jesus really lived on this earth.

Having faith in Jesus means I will never face difficulties alone, as He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). I can always find comfort and peace in Him, knowing that He understands each and every situation I experience. In addition, God’s unconditional love for me taught me to love others more and to be more forgiving.

The growth groups here at St Andrew’s helped me grow as a Christian. Not only can I study God’s word with other Christians, but I can also receive support from my brothers and sisters in Christ, which is very important in this world that is hostile to Christianity. If you haven’t attended a growth group, I highly recommend you to consider joining one.

I have decided to get baptized because I want to follow Him for the rest of my life, knowing that He is what really matters when I see things from an eternal perspective.
