Prayer of
Confession
Father
God, you said that “if My people who are called by My name
will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from
their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and heal their land.” Forgive us for our weaknesses,
foolishness, blindness, and wickedness. We have sinned against you
so much and for so long that we no longer know what is right, what
is true and what is of you. We have fallen in love with the world
and its ways, we have hardened our hearts and we are none righteous,
not even one. We come before you today, God of all creation, the
Holy One of Israel, asking for mercy & grace, for you to stay
your hand before judgment befalls us. We ask for a new heart and a
new spirit, that we may walk in righteousness, holiness and
humility.
Lord,
in Your mercy – hear our prayer.
Prayer
for the world & China
Father,
we repent for rebelling against you, turning to all kinds of
idolatry, including worshipping of self, of wealth, of power; the
new age movements, all forms of divination, fung shui, sorcery &
witchcraft. We are so full of ourselves and seek only to indulge our
selfish desires that our minds have become depraved. We want to take
your place as the creator rather than acknowledge that we are the
created. Out of pride we do things in the name of science, not
observing your divine order across the universe. Lord, and as we
witness the devastation in Szechuan, Myanmar, Georgia, and other
places, our hearts remain largely unmoved. We pray for your church
everywhere to have compassion and be prepared in disaster relief.
We
cry out, O God, for a world-wide awakening to your truths that we
would be convicted of our sinfulness. We pray also for the grace to
overcome the world, the enemy and our fleshly desires by the blood
of Jesus. Arouse your Church to a lifestyle of regular fasting &
incessant prayer that Your Holy Spirit may flow in freedom and your
government released in power on earth as it is in heaven.
Lord,
in Your mercy – hear our prayer.
Prayer
for Israel
Lord,
we remember the nation of Israel in our prayer as well. We pray for
real peace to come upon your nation and especially for protection
over the integrity of Jerusalem, Gaza, Golan Heights & the West
Bank. We close the door to all ungodly plans that call for division
of the land, in Jesus’ name, and we speak a blessing of peace from
our city of HK.
Prayer
for HK
God,
we pray for our government and lift up the elections for the
legislative council that is taking place today. We pray for godly
wisdom on those you choose to be elected, that they may have high
integrity, moral standards and compassion.
We ask you for a holy reformation in our city, that the laws
would close all doors to abortion, oppression of the poor, and all
forms of immorality. Free us from the spirit of Sodom &
Gomorrah, especially among our leaders. We pray also for your church
to raise up prayer warriors who are willing to intercede day and
night for those in government. Father, we pray for a government that
is righteous and merciful, walking in your ways, in Jesus’ name.
Father,
we pray also for unity in the Church, among the various
congregations in HK. We repent for disunity and for caring more
about our own programs than understanding Your heart for the city.
Specifically, we pray for You to take the lead in the Christmas
event on December 21, when believers from different denominations
will gather at 12 different locations across HK, Kowloon and the New
Territories to celebrate the first commandment through praise &
worship to You, the everlasting King. We pray especially for those
without families to join in the Lamb’s feast in the evening in
West Kowloon, that the love of Jesus would be spread far & wide
in our beloved city.
We
pray also for the preparation work for the Global Day of Prayer and
Global Day of Missions for 2009. We ask for divine strategies and
favor to be released to those having been entrusted with the
responsibility to organize these events. Lord, we do not want just
to have more events, but we want You to be present and for lives to
be forever changed, to the glory of God. We pray for HK and China to
walk out their God-given destiny at this kairos moment, as You
continue to unfold Your end time plans in our city and our nation.
Lord,
in Your mercy – hear our prayer.
Prayer
for families
Lord,
Your desire is for the parents’ hearts to be turned towards the
children, and the children to the parents’. We agree and intercede
for the restoration of families in HK. We repent, as parents,
bringing idolatry into the home and opening the door to internet and
gaming addictions because it is easier that way and we do not want
to take the time to spend with our children, teaching them. Forgive
us for not protecting our children who are our inheritance. We pray
for the discernment to shut out ungodly toys, games and
entertainment from our homes. Give us the love, the faith and the
wisdom to show our children how to live in holiness, mercy and
humility, day by day, moment by moment.
Lord,
in your mercy – hear our prayer.
Prayer
for St. Andrew’s
We
pray for the Lord’s blessing upon this new season for our youth
and children’s programs. We thank you, Lord, for the new staff
members– Darren Pollock & Zara Villalba. We pray that you
would anoint them and use them mightily to bring transformation into
the lives of our young people. Lord, do a new thing with our young,
release your Holy Spirit in them in a powerful and personal way that
they may lead our church in the way towards revival. Raise up a new
generation of young believers in our church who are not satisfied
with the status quo, but who yearns for intimacy with You and are
committed to a lifestyle of radical holiness and purity in complete
devotion to you. Release Your call on them in order that they may
respond. We ask also that the older generation would continue to
invest in the youth, pouring out their hearts, their time, their
resources and begin to walk with the younger generation in love and
with purpose.
We
pray also for the ongoing project to expand our church premises.
God, we don’t want to run ahead of you nor fall behind, help us
not to veer to the left nor to the right, but wherever we go and
whatever we do, be the voice that speaks to us, “this is the way,
go in it”. Help us to wait on You, to have faith and to choose to
obey You above any fear of man. We ask that Your mercy goes before
us as we embark upon this plan.
Lord,
in your mercy – hear our prayer.
We
pray in Jesus’ mighty name.
