Prayer Points

PRAISE GOD FOR WHO HE IS

Psalm 119 says, “Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word” (Ps 119:33-37). Give thanks that God speaks to us in the Bible and imprints his words in our hearts by his Spirit. Pray that we would be quick to listen to God’s word, to seek to understand it and apply is to our lives, and be a community shaped and transformed by it.

THE WORLD

The Middle East. As conflict continues to entangle the Middle East, following drone and missile strikes by Iran against Israel, escalating tension that threatens to become a regional war, and continuing bloodshed in Gaza, pray for peace in the region. Pray for peace in Gaza, for humanitarian relief, for healing, and an end to conflict. Pray for the easing of tensions between Iran and Israel, for fruitful negotiations, and a climate of restraint. Pray for shelter, security, and provision for refugees, especially the many made homeless in Gaza.

HONG KONG

Pray for the marginalised, the exploited, and the poor in Hong Kong. Pray that they would be given a voice; that their needs would be heard, understood, and responded to appropriately. Pray that Christians would be people who actively seek to care for the needs of the marginalised; that we rescue the poor who cry for help and the fatherless who have none to assist them, and that we put on righteousness as clothing (Job 31:12, 14).

University ministry. Give thanks for the opportunities to proclaim the gospel on university campuses in HK. Pray for boldness, wisdom, and grace as Christian students and organisations like FES and Campus Crusade for Christ seek to share the message of Jesus. Pray that at this formative time of life, many students would put their hope in Jesus.

ST ANDREW'S

Newcomers. Give thanks for many new people visiting St Andrew’s. Pray that they’d feel welcomed and connected, finding a community where they can grow in faith in Jesus.

Daughter churches. Pray for our daughter churches, Shatin Anglican Church led by Heewoo Han and Resurrection Church led by Lucas Durant. Pray that these would be communities active in sharing the gospel of Jesus in their community through words and deeds, growing in their faith in him, and supporting one another in practical ways for the glory of God.

Men’s and Women’s ministries. Give thanks for our Women’s Ministry at St Andrew’s, especially for upcoming brunch event next Saturday, and for the Men’s Ministry. Pray for the growth groups in these ministries and for the opportunities to encourage one another in faith. Pray that men and women at our church can continue to be nurtured in their faith, build supportive friendships, and grow in their knowledge of Jesus.
