Doctrinal Statement
St
Andrews affirms the orthodox Christian doctrine expressed in the
articles and creeds of the Anglican Church and refined in the
Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith.

Core Values
1. Corporate Worship
In coming together to worship God we proclaim the orthodox
Christian belief as contained in our doctrinal statement.
In corporate worship we emphasise both the truth in the Word of
God and the power of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer, both corporate and individual, undergirds all our
activities.
Preaching based solidly on Biblical truths will be an integral
part of our corporate worship.
Every time we meet together for worship, we will invite the Holy
Spirit to work amongst us, bringing healing and wholeness through
personal Prayer Ministry.
We welcome the prophetic word during times of corporate worship from those of our fellowship who attend regularly.
Our corporate worship will be expressed in a variety of styles
aiming for the best in music, liturgy, drama and dance etc.,
incorporating contemporary forms alongside the traditional.
2. Evangelism and Mission
We believe the gospel is to be shared until ALL people submit to
Christ.
We are committed to continual Church growth numerically and
spiritually.
We will reach out to people of all nationalities, primarily
through the medium of the English language.
The task of evangelism is a calling for every member of our
fellowship and not just the work of "specialists".
We are committed to equipping all members of the fellowship for this
task through training and prayer.
We seek to provide opportunities for all to engage in specific
evangelistic activities alongside our calling to be lights wherever
we are.
Evangelism includes both proclamation and practical outworking,
bringing good news to the poor in word and deed - caring, servant
ministries connect us with those living in darkness.
Corporately we are committed to supporting selected local and
international mission organizations in their work of evangelism and
relief.
3.
Fellowship
The Church family of today consists of all those in fellowship at
every stage and age of life, from the new born child onwards.
We aim to draw people into committed membership of the Church
through a sense of belonging to the family.
Membership of a home group is encouraged for all members for the
purposes of mutual support and accountability.
We value family life and seek to educate, encourage and provide
good role models for husbands, wives, parents and children.
We support and value those who live a single lifestyle.
We aim to provide pastoral care for all those in fellowship,
leading to healing and wholeness in every member.
We value social, sporting and entertaining activities as means
of growing together as the Church family, celebrating life together
in a joyful expression of the body of Christ.
4. Discipleship
We seek to enable members to mature in Christ through teaching
and training, exhorting, rebuking and challenging individuals as
appropriate.
We encourage church members to develop a regular pattern of
personal devotion and Bible study.
As Disciples of Christ, we endeavour to speak the truth to each
other in love at all times.
We aim to equip all those in the fellowship for life in the world
and particularly the workplace.
We submit to the Lordship of Christ in every aspect of our lives -
our time, money, family life and sexuality.
We value and promote the planned giving of finances according to
Biblical principles.
It is our expectation that disciples of Christ will:
- pray regularly for the Church
- worship regularly each week
- join a home group
- plan their giving, and
- find their own field of active service.
5. Service/Ministry
We encourage every Christian to use their God given gifts and
talents in His service - every member ministry is integral to the
function of the Church.
Every ministry embodies a servant role - we model Christ in
"empowered servanthood" - and no ministry is for personal
gain, glory or power.
Each member and each ministry matters equally - none are superior or
inferior to others.
Each member is uniquely shaped for a specific ministry through
their:
- spiritual gifts
- heart,
- abilities,
- personality, and
- experiences.
The fellowship is committed to helping every member to discover
their own ministry and to provide the resources to fulfil it through
networks of contacts and support mechanisms.
Ministry involves both service within the Church and service to
the community around us.
The workplace is a key area within which members exercise their
ministries as salt and light.
We aim to send members out in the power of the Spirit to live
and work for the glory of Christ.
6. Administration and Support Structures
We value the teamwork and practical support provided by the
office and administration staff as enabling functions - without them
the work of the Church could not happen.
We value efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out these
functions and expect support staff to be responsible stewards of
their time, gifts and talents.
We aim for high professional standards in office equipment and
facilities and in the safe use of these resources.
Staff are to be given opportunity for development, training and
growth in the use of their own gifts and talents
We aim to develop good relationships within the staff team
through:
- transparency and openness,
- participation and involvement,
- appropriate communications, and
- accountability. |
We will endeavour to match personnel resources in administration
to the workload.
Funding for all support and administration work will be provided
out of the direct giving from the Church membership.
The church buildings are a means to an end - they serve the
membership in providing appropriate accommodation for corporate worship,
teaching, meetings and administration staff and they have no
intrinsic value outside this context.
The Church has a duty of stewardship over all the physical
resources in its care. High professional standards are required in
the development, use and maintenance of all buildings and
facilities.
Financial resources and other assets are to be used responsibly
to achieve the foreseeable and tangible objectives of the Church as
expressed in the Mission Statement.
